BOREL MISSION STATEMENT
The Borel Middle School staff will hold itself accountable to high levels of achievement for all students as determined by state, national and International Baccalaureate standards. We will strive to develop the whole child, helping students to grow intellectually, socially, ethically and culturally. Borel Middle School is committed to meeting the unique academic and social needs of a diverse student body through a comprehensive system of instruction and support in a nurturing, caring and safe environment.
San Mateo County Safe Routes to School (SRTS) supports initiatives to increase the number of students walking, biking and carpooling for health, environment and traffic mitigation purposes. In October, you were asked to complete a related online survey. At school, students were asked how they travelled to and from school. These surveys provide a baseline for travel patterns. In order to measure the SRTS program’s impact and identify areas for improvement, the SRTS program is gathering the same travel evaluation data to compare with the data gathered in the fall. We will collect classroom tally data and collect parent survey data the week of May 23rd.
The survey and hand tally results will be kept anonymous. The data will be used to identify areas for improvement related to travel to school to better accommodate the needs of families and students. At no time will this data be shared without prior consent. Additionally, at no time will this data be used to single out schools for high rates of walking, biking, carpooling, or single families traveling in cars.
Please complete the online survey. Online forms will be available at:
If you do not have access to the internet, please come to the school office and we will aid you in completing the survey. This link will be active beginning on Friday, May 20th. It will close on Friday, May 27th.
Principal Kenyetta Cook, Borel Middle School, the San Mateo County Office of Education, the City/County Association of Governments, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and Safe Routes to School San Mateo County would like to thank you for your support and participation.
